Vacay Day 2: Mother's Day

Day 2 of vacation was very nice, as I was able to sleep in until 9:00am! Then Dan and the kids took me to breakfast. After that we went to Ripley's Aquarium, which was incredible. The kids loved all of the engaging exhibits. They were very well behaved too, which was a relief. We had fun "popping our heads up" into some of the aquariums. I think the neatest part was going under the aquariums. We even saw a giant sea turtle up close and personal! We were amazed! I highly suggest a visit here!
Then I checked in on Facebook and saw that I won Keepsake Portraits & Designs' Mother's Day Contest! Yay! This news made my day even brighter! I can't wait to get some outdoor professional pics of the kids done!
Then we went to the grocery store to stock this cabin with food for the week. Always a fun time at the grocery, riiiight. Later on Dan made me a delicious dinner and now we are winding down and relaxing. I look forward to some peace and quiet in the hot tub later on tonight. Until tomorrow, here are pics from Mother's Day adventures...Peace & Joy!

Our First "Family" Vacation: Day 1

It's finally here, our first family vacation to the Cozy Nest! We are still on the road to Gatlinburg, TN, but the kids have been relatively well behaved (knock on wood) for such a long car ride. We stopped at Town Center Mall to stretch our legs and have lunch at Qdoba. Then we got back in the car to continue our drive. Louisville traffic was very slow, but luckily Olivia hasn't had any accidents so far. After awhile we stopped at a rest stop to take a facilities break and now we are back on our way south to the Cozy Nest! Here are pictures of our adventures so far...I plan on blogging everyday, so stay tuned!

Toddler Tuesday @ Jefferson Pointe

Today my friend Nikki Riemer invited us to Toddler Time at Jefferson Pointe. I wasn't quite sure what to expect or how my kids would react, but why not, eh. It begins at 11:00am and lasts 30 minutes, just enough time to hold a toddler's attention. The lady who puts it on does a great job of engaging the toddlers with sing-along-songs, such as "The Hokey Pokey" "5 Little Monkeys" & "The Eensy Weensy Spider"...Gabe instantaniously loved it and after a while, Olivia got off of my lap and started dancing too.

They mix songs in with games and random door prizes for kids and adults too. Some of the kids won a big box of goldfish, Dora fruit snacks box, a case of Juicy Juice Boxes, and balloon art. The random prizes for adults were some awesome Vera Bradley goodies, Enzo Pizza, Debrands. The best part about Toddler Time at Jefferson Pointe is that it is FREE and they act like they really appreciate you taking time out of your day to be there! They gave each of the mom's a pink rose for Mother's Day! We will def be going back to Toddler Time at Jefferson Pointe on Tuesdays at 11:00am! We hope to see you there!

My Workout Blessing of a Buddy

I wanted to take the time to let everyone know about how thankful I am for my workout buddy, Deedra. She is truly a blessing in my life and I appreciate her dedication to the fitness lifestyle. Deedra helps push me and is a great accountability partner. She's been pushing herself even harder this past month and I am so proud of her.

Thank you Deedra for being you and giving your time to our friendship! I look forward to training for the Fort4Fitness with you!

4 mile to 13.1...is it possible???

I have never been a long-distance runner at all. Both of my sisters are awesome runners, but not me. I guess it wasn't in the plan, but I now realize that I can help shape my fitness destiny (so to speak). Over the past 6 months I have been able to participate in two 4-mile races. The first one, being the Fort4Fitness, and the second one was the Gallopping Gobbler.

The Fort4Fitness gave me a very accomplishing feeling and the race was set-up exceptionally well. I knew other people who were participating in it, but I didn't see any of them that day, so I ran it by myself. It was fun to see other people committed to the same cause (to get healthy). I enjoyed running/jogging/walking it by myself and seeing people along the way cheering us on. The finish line part was incredible and it really gave you a rush there at the end!

Since then I have been extremely focused on getting fit. I have been committed to win it in eating healthy and exercising=a wonderful new lifestyle that I plan on keeping and sharing with my children. My husband has been a huge help too, as he is my partner in this lifestyle change. I feel extremely blessed to have him helping me out with this, as he is wonderful at planning meals, making meals, teaching me how to prepare the meals, helps me plan workouts, etc. This is truly rewarding and for this I am thankful.

I am also thankful for my Dr. for helping me with this lifestyle change, as if she weren't willing to be my partner for the Tumble X Biggest Loser Contest, then I wouldn't have gotten off to this healthy start. Dr. Justina Girod, you are truly a fantastic person and I am so grateful for your friendship and commitment.

My babysitter, Erin Fallat, is also a huge blessing, as she and her husband are also in the TX Biggest Loser Contest too, and because we made this crazy deal, that if they participated in Biggest Loser, that I would run the 13.1 (Half-Marathon) Fort4Fitness with her come September 29th. I thank you Erin, for pushing me to this new level. Although, I think this is very far-fetched, the feeling of accomplishment will be well worth it!

So...4 mile to 13.1, is it even possible??? I still have lots of time to get there, but I am in it to win it! Win it meaning getting healthier in every way (mind, body and soul). Fully committed friends!

Goodbye Women's Dept. Hello Misses!

Well tonight I was excited to get to go shopping and get 2 really cute dresses from the Misses Department and NOT the Women's Department! Happy day!!! This working out thing is really paying off!

The best thing tonight was when Olivia was in the dressing room with me and says, "Mommy, you look so pretty, you look JUST like Tangled!"

Getting fit and loving life friends! Be blessed!

Hit & Run

Today goes down in history as the day I was literally involved in a hit & run. I still can't believe what happened, but I thank God for watching over Olivia, Gabe & me today because it could have been so much worse!

Here's my story... On Thursdays I always take my kids to my mother-in-law's house so that she can watch them while I work. I got to her house around 7:45am and it was still a little dark out, but it wasn't snowing yet. My mother-in-law lives on a residential street in town (around Parkview Main Hospital), but I always have to park in front of her house on the side of the street to unload the kids. I got out of my seat, closed my cardoor, unbuckled Olivia out of her carseat, and proceeded to put her coat on her before we went into Grandma Rhonda's house. Right as I was zipping Olivia's coat up, BOOM, my cardoor comes slamming into my body because a car hit my cardoor as this car was driving on the wrong side of the street at around 30mph. My whole body clenched and I fell to the ground screaming and crying out for help. I saw the dark colored car keep driving and then it turned onto Delaware. I was in shock and couldn't stop crying. I am so glad that Olivia and Gabe are safe and that I am not hurt worse than I am. A police officer came to the scene to fill out a police report and the EMS came but I ended up having Dan come to his mom's house to take me to the ER. Parkview ER was great and really all that is wrong with me is a little whiplash, left hip pain, some neck pain, head pain and I think my nose is broken, but nothing big.

It's interesting because I pray everyday for God to make me a shephard and to be able to use me to reach out to people and help touch lives, and here this happens. I can't help but to think about why this possibly happened, other than its part of HIS greater plan. Who knows about the person who hit me and I am not blaming them or anything, but who knows about their guilt they are living with and maybe that will help them turn to God. Just my 2cents on the matter.

I thank God for the gift of life and for keeping us safe in his arms today!

The BEFORE PICS

I am going to publicly humiliate myself, so that I never EVER let myself go again. Life is too precious and short to risk my health and the care of my family if something were to happen to me. So here it is friends, the really BIG BEFORE pictures (these pics were taken in June 2011). I am still working on the AFTER pics, but its a work in progress. I feel so much better when I take care of my body by eating healthy and getting exercise. So to all of my friends and family, please help me out by not offering me sweets, instead offer encouraging words. Here's to a healthy LIFESTYLE!

Sports Bras and Pharmacies

Look at that grin on Gabe's face. He apparently likes the bra store.

Ok, here is my random post for the day...I'd like to discuss 2 topics that are on my mind. SPORTS BRAS AND PHARMACIES

If you think about it, they really go hand in hand. Ok, not really, but here's my story, for what it's worth. You be the judge.

First of all, I don't know about you, but I have a VERY difficult time finding sports bras that fit right and have support. It's so embarassing to go to the gym and be flopping all over the place. Yes, I just said flopping. I wish that I could just get a normal Champion sports bra at Target, but thanks to breastfeeding with 2 kids and being blessed with some sort of odd genetic gene of big boobs, this is not the case. Instead, I get to go to Barbara's New Beginnings and spend $76 on a special sports bra that actually fits. With the cost of the sports bra, one would think that its made of gold and will make me look super hot, but I guess it will only make me look hot if I am sweating.

So, for any of you that are looking for a great sports bra, try the Shock Absorber sports bra. They have many size options. I am not going to disclose my size because it is really a SHOCKER!

For those with lil ones that get the joy of going to the bra store with your children, Barbara's New Beginnings (thankfully) has a little Dora table and chairs set with books to keep the lil ones entertained. They also have a wonderful staff of friendly ladies there who will make you feel at home and won't judge the fact that you have to bring the crew with you.

I hope that this sports bra holds up to its price. Time will tell. If it does, I will go back.

Then the next part of this random post is about pharmacies. Today I had to go to the pharmacy to get a prescription that was called in. I went to Meijer to pick up the script and boy was that a joke. There was a huge line of people waiting at the pick-up window. Then some guy decides to not see the line and cut everyone. The tech said, "Next" and he turned around at us and told us that he was next. I just told him that it was fine because it wasn't worth it. Kill them with kindness is my motto, or so I try to live by it, right?!

When it was finally my turn, the tech tells me that he can't find the Rx and that it must be on their voicemail that they haven't checked in a long time. He said that it will take a long time for the them to fill it. GREAT! So, I said, "Would it be terrible of me if I asked you to transfer that script to the Chestnut Scott's Pharmacy?" He said no problem and by the time I drove 10 mins. down the street, it was all ready for me. Happy day!

So for anyone needing a great pharmacy, I would highly suggest giving Scott's pharmacy a try. They have a drive-thru pharmacy at the Chestnut location (SR 14 & Scott Rd.), which is wonderful. We have had to transfer the few meds that we are on from Walgreens to Scott's due to Anthem BCBS Insurance. I can only imagine how this has had an impact on the other pharmacies all over! I just really appreciate Scott's pharmacy for being amazing each and every time I go there. It may not be a FREE Antibiotic, but the stress-free time is worth the money for me.

Until next time, be well!

Wonderful Weekend

This past weekend was wonderful! I enjoyed spending quality time at home with Dan, Olivia & Gabe. It was what a weekend is meant to be, nothing fancy; just spending time at home. There were a few necessary outings to the gym, church and the grocery, but other than that, there were no plans.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE having plans, being social and keeping busy, but sometimes it's nice not to be anywhere in particular and just focus on the family.

The gym was great too! I feel so much better when I workout. I have been trying very hard to accomplish this weight-loss goal since last year, but Tumble X's Biggest Loser contest really helped jump start the progress. I can't wait to see what results I get in Season 2!

If anyone else wants to join this fun contest, let me know! You can still enroll up until tomorrow! I highly recommend it! I feel better than I have in years and have tons more energy!

Peace and Blessings,

Amy

Beefcake!

I have convinced Dan to do Tumble X's Biggest Loser Season 2 contest with me, which started today. Last time I did it with my awesome Doctor (Dr. Justina Girod) and we had a great time losing weight together and came in 2nd place. This time we wanted to do it again, but thought it might be nice to have our hubby's involved, to help support the cause of a healthy lifestyle. We both talked with our spouses and they agreed to the challenge. The rest is history in the making...

Dan and I had to come up with a team name, so we decided on BEEFCAKE! Everytime he quotes Southpark's Cartman stating "BEEFCAKE" it cracks me up. WE are beefcake's and "can't hardly fit through the door", but we are on our way to being fit forever!

Stay tuned!

Christmas 2011

Merry Christmas Family & Friends! This Christmas was extremely neat because Olivia is actually at the age where she understands the concept. She really got into it and has even asked her daddy if she could, "Get a really nice gift for baby Jesus?" I promise to blog more later, but I just wanted to give everyone a quick update before 2011 was over. Peace~

Biggest Loser update

Saturday marks the 1/3 of-the-way completion mark for the Tumble X Biggest Loser Contest that I'm in. I'll get measured for the month on Saturday, so it'll be very interesting to see where I'm at compared to a month ago.
I feel like I have much more energy and I can also do more without feeling out of breath. Life is way too valuable to not take care of your body! My family depends on me and I have to be the best I can be for myself. Olivia and Gabe only get one mommy and I def want to live a long healthy life for them! I keep telling myself that whenever I am too tired to workout, or want to skimp on my nutrition. Dan's also been a big help as far as workouts and food is concerned. I am truly blessed to have such a strong support system!

Accomplishments this past month:
-I participated in my first 4 mile race. Although, I wanted so badly to take the t-shirt and run the opposite direction (aka, skip out), I am so glad that I finished!
-I've been keeping track of all of my BLT's (bites, licks & tastes). It really helps me get a grip on where I am with my progress. For example, I'm struggling with why in the world I take in so many more darn carbs than protein. Hey, they say that you are what you eat, so my nutrition is crucial in this contest!
-I've made it to the gym 6 days a week for the past month! It feels to get past that hump of getting on a routine. I think that's a huge struggle at first...getting over the excuses and just saying, I have to make it happen no matter what!

Last but not least, REST is extremely important to a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, I'm going to get my beauty rest...night night!

Listening to God's Calling

I love my Catholic faith and feel so grateful for the church welcoming me into the church on April 1, 2010. I have been abundantly blessed in so many ways and have always wanted to pay it forward. Lindy Trouten was a fabulous sponsor for me and I can't ever repay her for her constant time, prayers and dedication to my faith journey. Well...today I received a call from Carole Yaney, Formation Director at our Parish, asking me if I'd like to Sponsor someone. Luckily, the call went to voicemail, because if I were to answer it, I would have possibly made a quick decision. After prayerfully considering it, I've decided to take on God's calling and pay it forward. I'm excited to begin this journey! Thanks be to God!
It's funny how life works out...I was just thinking the other day about how Lindy and Marianne were both so close and were both sponsors for Shawna and I. They helped draw us closer to our faith by their devotion. I was thinking about how I'd like to SOMEDAY be able to sponsor someone like that. I thought, how awesome would that be and I had no clue that God actually had this in kind for me sooner rather than later. Then I looked up at the sky today after telling Carole yes and I saw a light shining down from the clouds. It was right then and there that I was assured that I had made the right decision. Peace and Blessings my dear friends. God is constantly with us!

ENT

Anyone who knows me knows about my frequent frustrations with ENT. For awhile there, I was even thinking about taking Gabe down to Indy to get seen bc I felt like ENT was a huge monopoly here, and I wasn't getting anywhere with them. It seems like many other momma's out there feel the same way, as far as them getting fed up with ENT's scheduling & billing departments. But none-the-less, I wanted to shed some light on the positive experiences I've had with ENT this past month. I've seen many of their Dr.'s & NP's for my children, but Dr. Schreck is by far the BEST Physician at ENT! He's great with children and personable as well as informative with adults. He doesn't make you feel like just another number and actually spends time with his patients. You can tell that he wants what's in the patients best interest and doesn't want to just push surgeries to make $. Ever since I've seen him for Gabe's issues, ENT has been a positive experience. I don't know if it's bc they have it written all over the chart to watch out for this crazy mom (being Gabe's advocate) or what, but I'm finally at peace with their service. Hopefully, it will help all of you other momma's out there who have the pleasure of taking your kids to ENT.

Little Steps towards a BIG Goal

Thanks to Tumble X's Biggest Loser Contest for jump starting my motivation towards getting and staying fit! Losing fat and getting into shape sure aren't easy tasks, but taking time and effort this week sure has made a difference in my overall well-being. Getting into shape for me is about developing a healthy lifestyle for myself, mainly through diet and exercise. It's not for my husband, family or friends, but for ME! I mean it is for them because I want to live a long healthy life, but I am the one that has to live my life and I have to be accountable for myself. No more excuses. I feel so much better after I workout and have a day full of clean eating. God gave us each a body and its our job to keep it healthy, strong and alive. I can do this!!

Tumble X's Biggest Loser

I am embarking on a new chapter in my life tomorrow (Saturday, September 10th, 2011), as I weigh-in to begin Tumble X's Biggest Loser competition. I'm very excited to begin this lifestyle change! For my "Last Supper" I had Oley's Pizza and it so wasn't worth it, but bring on the new ME! Team Remedy Remix is ready to ROLL! ;)

Proud Momma

Like most other parents I know, I thank God everyday for the beautiful gift of my children. They've completely changed my life and I cherish each and every moment I get to spend with them.

Miss Olivia amazes me everyday with something new. Two weeks ago at church I was a Eucharistic Minister and part of that ministry is to open doors for people of the parish. Well, Gabe wasn't feeling too well that morning, so Dan stayed home with him, leaving me to tackle Mass alone as a Eucharistic Minister. Luckily, the service has a Nursery...as I arrived, I tried to see if any volunteers were in the Nursery yet, but no such luck. I then took Olivia with me to help open doors. She did such a good job and everyone enjoyed her smiling face there to greet them. I was finally able to get her into the Nursery and I didn't even get called to come get her. She enjoyed playing with her friends, Olivia & Luke, and I was able to fulfill my ministry for that Mass.

Today as I was exiting the Rest Stop (Mile Marker 50 on I-69) Restroom, Little O decides to stop and hold the door for complete strangers. Then another person comes along and she runs back to the door and says, "Momma, I have to help him!" So sweet!

Then, I have to brag on her some more...she is so good at praying before all of her meals. If we accidentally forget, she reminds us that "we have to pray!" She even does the sign of the cross. Bless her little heart!

Gabriel "Gabe" also fascinates me everyday with a new joy. His most recent adventure is that he can completely walk on his own and is now even climbing. Watch out world, here he comes!

Peace and Blessings,

Grateful Momma

Nikki's 30th SURPRISE Party!

Kristy planned a fabulous 30th Surprise Birthday for her sister, Nikki last night. Although it was tough for to keep the big surprise a secret, she managed to shock Nikki into tears of joy.

Nikki thought she was going on a "Sisters Night" and so she started out the night at her sister-in-law's house (Lindsey) doing girly things, such as hair & make-up. Other sisters joined her (Kristy-biological sister, and Erica--Lindsey's sister). Then they were going to go out to eat for dinner at Agave's Mexican Restaurant. Just as they walked out onto the patio of Agave's...SURPRISE...Nikki was welcomed by tons of her closest girly friends and family.

Nikki was presented with her Birthday Tiara, Sache, and silly 30 pendant. She even had a 30-Year Old Virgin margarita drink. What a champ!

Then we went to Crazy Pinz for a fun game of bowling. Laura N. had a fantastic score, while my score was 90...lol...very typical for me to have a low score (this was even with help from Bowling Champ Erica & the Bday Girl) but bowling is always a blast with the right crew.

I feel amazingly blessed to be surrounded by a great group of friends. I had the opportunity to meet some wonderful friends/family members of Nikki's and thank God for the gift of Nikki...by strong, smart & super fantastic friend!

Welcome to your 30's Nikki, I hope this new chapter of your life is filled with joyous moments!
You're a beautiful person and deserve the very best!

Shame

Well, Gabe wet his diaper so much last night that it leaked onto his crib sheet. I didn't have time to change it this morning, as I was in a huge rush to get out the door for Dr.'s appts. & work...so I decided to change his sheets tonight right before bed. Low & behold, I had plenty of extra clean mattress pads, but not sheets. Dan & I both searched the house and they are no where to be found...SO...poor lil Gabe is stuck with a pink gingham crib sheet until further notice. Sorry bud, maybe you won't pee your bed next time, eh?!

Help...this Really Bites!

My sweet little 1-year old, Gabe, has a new favorite hobby; biting! Ahhh! He's bit me before and I have tried flicking his cheek to get him to stop, but that doesn't work. Now he is biting lil ones...NOT GOOD! So, I need to ask you, my friends...Do any of you have any suggestions for getting a lil 1-year old to stop biting others??? I know this is normal for his and he'll outgrow it, but I know others of you have possibly gone through this too. Please HELP!

Angie J.

This post is all about Angie J., who holds a special place in my heart. Although we haven't known each other all that long, I feel like we are long-lost friends. I met her through (word of mouth) my old friend Casey, who moved away from Fort Wayne several years ago. Casey would always talk of her good friends "Joe & Angie" and I knew that Angie went to my church, so one day I randomly saw her after church and said, "You're Angie! I'm Casey's friend Amy!" She must have thought I was a nut job, but it just clicked of who she was when I saw her and I had to say something. Yes, I am that random, but life's too short to miss out on opportunities to spread love.

Anyways, since that day at church, we became Facebook friends and then started going to Zumba together. We'd take turns car-pooling to Zumba and have great conversations about life. It turned out that we had many things in common and decided to have lil playdates with our kids, who are around the same ages.

We have met at the Mocha Lounge Little Friends' Room for the kids to play while the mommas have their latte's. It's great! We've gone to the mall together. I still remember when Olivia held Ava's hand and walked around the mall. Very cute! She couldn't stop talking about Ava since that day. Now they are in Tumble Bunnies together and they absolutely love it! Every Tuesday Olivia looks forward to her Tumble Bunnies class with Ava and Miss Nicole! Mommy looks forward to it too because she can get her girl time with Angie. It's ideal for both parties!

I just wish that Casey lived back in Fort Wayne so that we could have her family be a part of our lil playdates! XoXo Casey!

Anyways, back to this post, Angie is truely a good friend because she takes a genuine interest in others. She's always trying to find out ways that she can help other people. She's also very positive/uplifting and someone that I enjoy being around. She's generous with praise, smiles and love. Angie seems to appreciate the differences in others. I am a little scatterbrained when it comes to being on time and Angie understands that and I know that I need to work on that, but I appreciate her not getting upset when I am running around 15 mins. late. Ha~

Angie is open, honest and real. I feel like I can genuinely trust her. I thank God every day for our friendship. "A good friend Strengthens you with Prayer, Encourages you with Hope, and Blesses you with Love." Thanks for your fantastic friendship Angie! I look forward to many more years to come!

Grandma Rhonda

I stated that I was going to write on special "friends and why they have a special place in my heart", well here's my first post on that subject matter.

My mother-in-law, Rhonda, although she's my mother-in-law, I would consider her my friend. She'll never see this because she doesn't get on the internet, but she truely has a special place in my heart and I have to share her with you all.

She does not judge and has a very generous soul. Grandma Rhonda watches Olivia and Gabe for me once a week, which significantly helps with childcare expenses (it adds up), plus it allows her to see her grandkids once a week on a regular basis. My kids look forward to their weekly visits with Grandma Rhonda.

Below are some pictures from our summertime fun in Grandma Rhonda's pool. Gabe just loves the water, but Olivia still isn't too sure of it. I love these moments with good family that we can call great friends!

Peace~

Good Friends

Good Friends go along with Good Times in so many ways, therefore, I have decided to blog on certain friends and why they have a special place in my heart. Stay tuned friends...you might be next!

These are the moments we cherish

This picture pretty much says it all...Olivia is such a good big sister to Gabe. They're really getting along very well and I love this (& every) stage. She'll tell me what Gabers is saying, even though he only really says, "Hi" "Dadda" and laughs/giggles. Gabe is changing every day, he's starting to try to walk (not quite there yet, but is taking small steps). He's also eating real food and cutting down on formula! Woo hoo! Miss O is now potty trained! HAPPY DAY! That's pretty much my update on the kids for the moment. I am sure there are many more beautiful moments to come...Peace my friends.

Fresh Starts

New beginnings can be blessings in disguise, depending upon how we look at them. I have faith that through Christ Jesus, we are able to make it, no matter what the situation (big or small).

Changes occur all the time in this world & I'm always weary at first of these changes, almost to the extreme nervous side. Once the change has happened, I'm usually just fine.

There's lots going on in my life right now, although not necessarily negative at all. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

Vacay away

Dan & I have been on a vacation with just the two of us since Saturday. We dropped the kids off at my mom & dad's house in Mooresville & went on our way.

This vacation has been very relaxing & just what Dan & I needed. We've had lots of alone time. We have gone to the Smokey Mountain National Park quite a bit, hiked, people watched in Gatlinburg (crazy nuts), chilled in the hot tub, relaxed in the cabin...did I say relaxed?! That's what we've been doing & I'm enjoying every second...but I miss my kids more than ever!

I know they're in good hands, so that's not the problem. I really appreciate my parents for giving Dan & I this wonderful opportunity to get away to the Cozy Nest. I just miss my "family" as a whole, but know that by Dan & I taking this time for each other, we are better parents to Olivia and Gabe, right ;)

I'm still thinking that we might come back early...we'll see.

Night night!

Empty Me

Empty Me-Chris Sligh

I've had just enough of the spotlight
When it burns bright
To see how it gets in the blood
And I've tasted my share
Of the sweet life
And the wild ride
And found a little is not quite enough

I know how i can stray
And how fast my heart could change

Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me
So i can be
Filled with you

Ive seen just enough of the quick buys
Of the best lies
To know how prodigals can be drawn away

I know how I can stray
And how fast my heart could change
Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me
So I can be
Filled with you

Cuz everything is a lesser thing
Compared to you
Compared to you
Cuz everything is a lesser thing
Compared to you
So I surrender all

Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride

Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me
So I can be
Lord empty me of me
So I can be

Enough

Lately i feel like nothing that i do is good enough for a certain someone, no matter what. It makes me very sad but I keep telling myself that God is not disappointed in me. I live to serve HIM.
Here's a song by Barlow Girl that I just love!

All of You is more than enough for
All of me for every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You
Is more than enough

You are my supply
My breath of life
Still more awesome than I know
You are my reward
Worth living for
Still more awesome than I know

All of You is more than enough for
All of me for every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You
Is more than enough
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/barlow_girl/enough.html ]
You're my sacrifice of greatest price
Still more awesome than I know
You're my coming King You're everything
Still more awesome than I know

All of You is more than enough for
All of me for every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You

All of You is more than enough for
All of me for every thirst and every need
You satisfy me with Your love
And all I have in You
Is more than enough

You're enough
You're enough
You're enough
For me

(Repeat 9 X's)

Goodbye May, Hello June!

It's been a little while since I blogged last, so I thought I'd give everyone a recent post.

May in a nutshell: hail a lotta rain!

It basically rained all but 6 days here this month. There have been lots if thunderstorms, thus waking Olivia up at night. However, we have been very fortunate to not have been hit by any terrible tornados.

I received a beautiful butterfly rain gauge for Mother's Day and Olivia loves to go check on it. It's neat teaching your children little nature-related things.

I had a fun surprise 30th Bday party for Dan at Buffalo Wings & Ribs. The best part was seeing his face when we walked into the restaurant. He told me, " Amy, what are you doing, we have to wait to be seated?!" "SURPRISE!!!!" Priceless!
It was great to see so many friends and family come out to celebrate with us!

Then I signed up to run my first race...the Fort4Fitness, thanks to Lisa Saxe's encouragement. It's only 4 miles, but will be a challenge for me!

We undertook a huge landscaping project and almost have it finished, thanks to Dan & his dad! It is looking so much better than before. I'll gave to show before & after pics for everyone once it's all done.

I was able to see my friend Casey, from Indy, thanks to my friend Angie for inviting us over to "swing & surprise!" it was great to see her precious newborn baby Ben!

Olivia continues to be in her Tumble Bunnies class, where we have good weeks and not so good weeks. She ultimately loves it because she'll pretend play that she's in her class and she practices her moves at home. Then
when we go to class (sometimes) she won't cooperate, throws fits, and doesn't want me to leave her. I think it'll take some time but it will grow in her. It's hard bringing Gabe with us bc it's her "thing", but he's not any trouble, it's just that O likes her attention.

Anyways, other than that, we had our first ever Game Night at our house. It was an absolute blast! We plan on having another one on Saturday, if anyone is able to make it!

On Saturday I also turn the big 3-0. It's weird thinking that I'm not going to be in my 20's anymore. I feel old, but I know I'm really not. It's just a weird feeling~

Well, this old lady is really tired and needs to go to bed!

Peace!

Positives for Tuesday

Here are 5 positive things that happened today:

5). Dan came home from lunch to see us.
4). I actually broke down and had a good cry (this hardly ever happens), which helped.
3). Olivia was great in Tumble Bunnies this time around! I was starting to worry about having to pull her from the class. Answered prayer!
2). I was able to get in a great weightlifting workout. It felt so good! I haven't done this in a long time but know that it helped me lose tons of weight before.
1). I was able to sleep in until 9:00am!!!

Thank you Lord for this beautiful Tuesday and the gift of life that is invaluable!

GNO Fun!

Tonight was so much fun! I had a Girls Night Out at my hair salon, Phresh! It was absolutely a blast! Erin has been my stylist for a long time now and she offered to have a Style Lab Party for me (2nd time that I've had a party, but it's been awhile). I invited some of my friends from church and a couple others.

Phresh outdid themselves with great customer service, helpful info, free food and drinks and an all-around much needed relaxing night with girlfriends! Some of the girls had a chance go sit down in one of the chairs to get 'the look' demonstrated on them. The Stylists were great about answering our questions about our hair and really made it personalized to our needs. We learned about how to do a fun summer up-do, recent hair trends, how to care for our hair from shampoo to drying and brushing. They also taught us how to do loose wavy curls and how to piece and straighten our hair.

I feel all phreshened up on my hair trends and it was great to see my friends again! Thanks Erin, Mary, Lyndsay, Sheena & Phresh for allowing us to have a fantastic Girls Night Out!

XoXo,
Amy

Gabe's Swing

I must say, I have a very thoughtful husband. He got Gabe his own swing for our playset. Gabe's too big now for our indoor baby swing, but now that the weather is going to be nicer, this will get lots of great use!

We put him in there today and he just absolutely enjoyed it! I'm so very thankful to have a great husband who provides so much for our family! Thank you Dan for being a kind husband and an amazing daddy! We can't wait to swing again!

Easter Vigil Mass

Dan & I went to the Easter Vigil Mass tonight and I must say, thanks to my mother-in-law for watching the kids, I absolutely love this service. I know it's the longest service of the year, but I am actually looking forward to having our children go to that Mass with us once they're older.

It also brought back many emotions & memories for me from a year ago, after I joined the Catholic church.

I'm so proud of my husband for being an RCIA sponsor too. If he brought Josh anything of what Lindy brought upon me, that's incredible. What a cool way to share your Catholic faith, Dan. I'm thankful for my sponsor everyday.

Happy Easter everyone! Jesus saves!

My Therapy

I had the opportunity for some "alone time" this afternoon, so where do you think I went???

If you answered Von Maur, then you must know me ;) I went for some retail therapy & The Von usually hits the spot.

I went upstairs to the women's clothing Dept. first, only to realize that there was nothing I wanted. Everything I found that I liked was full price and I refuse to pay for non-marked down items. I looked and looked but couldn't find anything. I even tried on a few things, but nope, nada, zilch.

The sales associate, Stephanie, is incredible and even tried to help me, but I guess I wasn't feeling it. So, I went to see my friend & Dept. Manager of the Girls' & Kids Shoes Dept., Kimberly. She always cheers me up. I looked for deals for the kids but I still didn't find anything, except a bib for Gabe, which is his gift from the "Easter Bunny."

Olivia will get many useful things from the Easter Bunny, yet Gabe gets a bib. Poor buddy~ but honestly, will he realize at 9 months, I don't think so. Let's save our money~Gabe needed a bigger bib, so I think my purchase was worthwhile.

I also realized that retail therapy is over-rated. I first noticed this on a business trip that I went to with Dan to Chicago (before we had kids). I was actually bored of Michigan Ave.

I guess that retail therapy is worthwhile if your with good friends or family (sisters/mom). I think I'm growing up at almost 30. Ha!

From now on, I think Dan's right, Internet shopping all the way~

After work surprise

After picking the kids from the sitter's I get the car unloaded only to hear Olivia tell me that she has to throw up...yuck! Just as I grabbed a throw up bucket, she throws up all over herself & the kitchen floor. At least it wasn't on carpet this time, but what an unexpected surprise that was tonight. I then have her a bath and she's been extremely fussy.

Gabe, on the other hand got a bath first thing this morning because he decided to soak his diaper and crib in urine.

Good times all around!

I can't get ahold of my husband, so he must be in some meetings...

Oh my & O just found the real camera and took my pic while I'm nursing Gabe! Fantastic!

Thank you Lord for this day in which I get to spend with my beautiful children! I am very thankful for all of my blessings. Please give me the patience and understanding to get through the rest of the day.

Olivia's sayings:

Cute things that Olivia says:
"Gabe, I need my mommy time too!"
"Let me see it mommy!"
"Mommy, thank-you for making the dinner!"
"I want lipstick mommy!"
"Daddy's going to work to make the money!"

Olivia warms my heart! She's a joy and I cannot express how grateful to God that I am for her!

Zumba

Here's my random post about Zumba and my weight loss goals...

I love my Zumba time and do not want to give that up, but I'm not seeing the results I want. I told Dan tonight that I'm frustrated with myself and really want to lose this weight. He then asked me if I thought that Zumba wasn't doing it for me. I told him that Zumba is my outlet and that its my diet that needs improvement. I also told him that I need his help on this. He said that I've done it before and can do it again.

It just seems so different this time around. Now I can't go to the gym 2 times a day and eating 6 small healthy meals a day isn't an easy task, ESP when I don't even take time out of my day to pee. Just sayin.

Children change your life in a good way, it's just not as easy to focus on yourself. I give all of myself to others and really should focus more on taking time for me, or else, let's face it, my family is doomed. If momma's not happy, nobody's happy. Ha!

I just don't know the right answers to how to make it all balance. Dan's extremely busy with his work, so I don't want to cut into his time. I guess that I just have to find ways to make it work. Somehow, even if I have to get my booty up in the morning before he goes to work to workout. Ugh. It's so worth it though, right. I really want this, so I'll make it happen!

First step, get the diet in line...
One thing at a time, results don't happen overnight! Ok, I'm going to try and get some sleep now.

Time Flies

One of my friends and I were talking about preschool today and trying to figure out when they'd be in preschool. It occurred to me that Olivia will be in preschool in 1 1/2 years. Oh my goodness! Can this be true?! It doesn't seem possible, she's only 2 & I just had her like yesterday, right?! Wow! Time flies! I'm holding onto each moment!

Tumble Bunnies

Olivia had her first tumbling class tonight with her friend Ava. I enrolled Olivia at Tumble X to try and get her involved in a nice sport that will help teach her basic core fundamentals. Plus maybe someday she'll become a future Olympic Gymnastic or even a Cheerleader, who knows. At this age it's about having fun around others her own age and we will see where it takes us.

Her teacher, Miss. Katie, is a sweetheart and must have so much patience to teach 2 year olds. Olivia and Ava were both a little apprehensive at first but warmed up near the end. Olivia liked it so much that she didn't want to leave and threw a long fit for me there after class. Oh to be 2 again~

It'll be interesting to see how they do next week. Go Tumble Bunnies!!

2). A loving healthy family
3). A hardworking & supportive husband
4). The ability to work PT
5). My parish
6). My hair stylist, Erin, who I love
7). Zumba & Kandi's awesome classes
8). My Zumba friends
9). Olivia is going to be in Tumble Bunnies starting tomorrow
10). Gabe is crawling all over the place now
11). An awesome sitter, Steph rocks
12). My mother-in-law for watching O& Gabe one day a week
13). My Zumba shoes that I just ordered, so pumped
14). Olivia taking more interest in the potty
15). Our upcoming vacation in June to Gatlinburg, TN
16). Nice weather, fresh air, time on the playset & stroller walks
17). Our fence will be up soon, the posts are already in place. It will be so nice to not have to worry about our dog running off.
18). We have really nice neighbors, I consider that a blessing.
19). Being able to continue to nurse Gabe. I know this is personal & weird for those of you who don't understand, but my goal was 6 months and he's now almost 9 months. I'm going for a year, but we will see. TMI~but still, a blessing.
20). My CRHP sisters, you've changed my life through HIM!

Ok, I need to try & rest now. Good night all & don't forget to count your blessings!

You've got to be kidding me

So today's To Do List included: 1. Go to the bank 2. Go to the drive-thru pharmacy & 3. Go to the Post Office

One would think that wouldn't be so bad, right... WRONG!

Oh my...the 3rd one was a doozie! Olivia decided to throw a huge fit and refused to get out of my vehicle. After about 10 minutes of holding Gabe & trying to coax her out of the car, she finally got out, only to try & run into the busy street. So here I am, holding Gabe, my big box package that I have to send out and trying to chase/save my 2-year old.

I must have looked like an idiot bc everyone was just staring at me. Great~ Then Olivia insists that I carry her too, so here I am, struggling to carry all 3 of my "packages" into the post office (Olivia, Gabe & my package).

Oh it gets better...once inside, Olivia still wouldn't let me put her down, so I had to stand in line like this and to top it off, I got random unnecessary comments from older men. One man in an 80's suit decides to tell me that it'll be even worse when the 3rd one comes along!!! I just said, "you think so?!" Ahhh!!! You've got to be kidding me!!! Men! They totally don't have a clue!!!

Playdate Fun!

Today I had a playdate at my house, for a total of 10 lil ones and 6 adults. We had fun & even colored Easter eggs. I'm blessed to know such wonderful women and their beautiful blessings! Thanks for your time ladies, we must keep up with the playdates from time to time!

April is here!!

I thought I'd post yet another random blog, to keep everyone updated on our life.

First of all, I'm thrilled that it's finally April! I am excited about nicer warmer weather where I can actually take Olivia & Gabe out of the house on walks, to swing, etc. It'll be nice once we have our fence in because the kids & dog can play freely (with adult supervision of course) ;) The fence should be up by the end of the week after next. Woo hoo! We decided to go with a 6 ft. Concave Countryside straightboard (meaning not shadowboxed) Pinehill wood privacy fence. This should look nice and I'm anxious to see it.

Ok, I gotta get ready for Zumba...I'll write more later~

Back in the day

Today I've been thinking about how much easier it was to go about things (like going to the gym and actually getting the adequate amount of rest) before kids. I'm really struggling with getting into a structured workout routine. I do workout but its never consistent. Gone are the days when I could workout 2x's a day or at least get in 4 consistent workouts a week and eat clean. I'd love to lose this baby weight and am very frustrated that it's not coming off quite like I'd hoped. I feel like a failure. Does anyone have any motivation, suggestions for balancing life??

Things that make you go hmmm...

Lately I think that I'm losing it, or @ least am noticing that I'm losing it...

Examples:

1). Last week I put Gabe into Olivia's carseat (forward facing) and then went to go put Olivia into the car and was like, huh?! Luckily I figured it out before starting the car, but seriously...I am losing it.

2). Last night I went to make myself a protein shake after my Zumba class and put the pre-made-up ziplocked package into my shaker cup, only to taste FORMULA...nasty!!!!! Our protein supply is low and apparently I made up packets of protein and formula. What the what is wrong with me?!

Help me people~~~this momma is losing it~~~

Tumble Bunnies

I've been doing some research on my own to see which would be better, Dance class or Tumble class. I came to the conclusion that Tumble class is the better choice, at least for now.

Olivia will start a trial on 4/12 at Tumble X in their Tumble Bunnies class! I hope it goes well! One of my other friends is going to have her daughter in there too. Very exciting!!

To be continued friends...

Spring Jacket Search

Today I took Dan to his favorite place in the world, the Mall, to look for spring clothes for the kids. I was in search for sleepers for Gabe, bigger socks for both kids and spring jackets for both kids.

I found a sleeper in Gabe's size for sale at Children's Place. It's cute and has sports balls on it (blue & white and striped on one side). Then I also found a cute yellow & white striped polo shirt with a number on the upper chest for Gabe. Dan found him a pair of jeans (thanks honey)...haha...he hates to shop at the mall.

Next, we went to Target to get diapers for both kids, Pull-Ups for Olivia and wipes. Good times! I found both kids socks there too, but no matter where I went I could not find any Spring Jackets.

I was talking with a random lady in line at Children's Place and she seemed to think the same thing. She said that the only place she's seen them has been at Kohl's and that they were kind of pricey?! Huh?!

So, my friends, I have been searching online and have decided that this is a much better way to shop. The bad news is that I still can't find that perfect Spring Coat for them both. Therefore, I will make it my mission to have Spring Jackets on LivvieBlue's website. You just wait and see, they'll be awesome!

What is LivvieBlue, you ask?! Why it is my new Children's Clothing line, with styles much like Matilda Jane. It's not up and running yet, but someday...

Life is good, God is good! Gotta follow your dreams!

Peace

The After Zumba Post

It's amazing how a little workout can change your whole attitude, good or bad.

Today I actually got to Zumba 1/2 hr. early, hence how I was able to write a post earlier. It was nice to have some 'me' time. Then I went into Zumba and sat on the floor to stretch. Some lady, whom I know I've chit-chatted with before started talking to me. She asked me if I knew if the normal instructors were back (Kandi & Angie went on vacation together and they are the normal awesome instructors). I told her that they weren't back and that the instructor was some girl named Missy, but I've never been to her class before, I just heard that she was good (aka from some random post on some person's facebook wall).

Then my amazing Zumba partner, Angie (not instructor Angie), showed up. We talked and were ready to start the Zumba Party!

Some girl runs to the front of the class in a pink Zumba shirt. Angie and I looked at each other and said, "That must be her, huh?!"

The class started out rather slow. Ang & I looked at eachother like, "Really?!" Maybe I am just biased and used to the normal instructors, but she was in a league of her own. I understand that every Zumba place has a different vibe, for instance, KMonique's (dance studio feel) is different than Tumble X (fitness feel), the Y (I don't know, I've never been to Zumba at the Y, I've just heard about it) is different too. Each place has their own nitch and I think it's great.

What I don't think is great is the fact that this girl did not even tell us what she was going to do next. She just kinda did her own thing and some of the moves didn't seem like Zumba moves at all. Very weird. She was lifeless and it seemed like she wasn't getting into it at all.

Then around 40 minutes in, it was like her RedBull kicked in or something and she got into it. She did a random loud "Squak" in the middle of a song. It was really funny. Ang & I just looked at eachother like 'oh my goodness, this is too much!' She started getting into it and going up to random people and getting in their faces while doing her moves. She turned around and faced the class. It was like, wow, do you really want to see how bad you are screwing us up or what?!

Then an older song came on and it started out faster then she slowed it down to be the cool down, but it wasn't a cool down song. Very odd. After Zumba come to a hault, the substitute instructor told us to take a look at the oils. Ang & I were like, "Oils?!"

Apparently this lady sells oils too. She rushed to the front counter, where she had all of her oils setting out, so that she could sell her oils to us. As we were walking out she was telling people to try her oils out. We were like, no thanks. Ang & I looked at each other like, "Don't quit your day job lady." Oh my, I'm sorry, but wow!

Everyone was asking when the normal girls were coming back and if Kandi was going to be there Monday night because if she was going to be back Monday, then people would go Monday night. Again I say, oh my~

We didn't get much of a workout burn, but it was fun because Ang & I were together and we were moving and I guess that is all that matters.

So on my way home, I was in such a funk from this exhiliarating workout that I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to bring my family home breakfast and yes I did have a donut. It is not a snack, it is BREAKFAST (thats what I am telling myself anyway, since I gave up treats for lent).

Today, I am thankful for Kandi & Angie M. (the normal Zumba instructors at TX). I have missed you girls and have felt like I have been on vacation while you were on vacation (except I didn't have the nice FL atmosphere). I can't wait to have girls back! Lovies!

Saturday Sunshine & Stuff

Here is my Saturday so far:

Wake up for a party in Gabe's crib at 3am, followed by a happening party in Olivia's room. Good times!

Took Winston to the groomers at A Classical Touch. I've never been there before, but it looks nice. That poor dog needs a good groom!

Then I went to Walgreens to pick up some Rx's. After that I noticed the E on the gas gauge, so I went to fill up at $3.68/gal, gulp. After seeing a certain amount I just stopped pumping & then when it asked for a receipt, I said No thanks. I don't want to see what disguists me.

Now I'm sitting at Tumble X waiting for Zumba to start. Yay for Zumba! It's going to be a great Saturday with the beautiful sunshine! God Bless everyone!

Blah Blah Blah

This post is about nothing in particular. I'm just ranting to rant & get whatever is on my mind out there.

Do any of you have 2 year olds? So sweet & sincere one minute and in crazy fit mode the next. Yes, my precious O has def entered the "terrible two's"! I love her with all my heart but sometimes these fits wear on me.

Next subject, totally un-related to the one prior but I'll just put it out there. Dan & I have decided to go on a vacation this year, just the two of us (much needed but will be REALLY hard to leave the kids). I'm really excited about the get-away though!

Also, we are going to get a fence...probably a good idea with 2 kids & a dog. We put our $ down $ they should get it started in like 3 weeks. Sweet! Guess what I forgot to do though...ha! Submit a request to our lovely neighborhood association. Whoops! Big Whoops! I submitted the request electronically today & am waiting for the fence company to email them the plot map. Ours isn't that clear to read once scanned. I hope I didn't totally screw that one up! My mind lately, sheesh!

Ok, now I'm off to Zumba! It should be fun & I'm so looking forward to it! Peace!
